Call for Papers - International Convention on Innovative Technology Integration in Education (ICITIE, 2017)

The International Convention on Innovative Technology Integration in Education (ICITIE, 2017) organized by the Association for Innovative Technology Integration in Education (AITIE) will be hosted by Kwara State chapter of the Association which has been scheduled to take place at the University of Ilorin Auditorium on the 24th – 28th July, 2017. The Kwara State chapter of AITIE is proud to host the maiden convention (workshop & conference) and enjoin all media specialist in all facets of human endeavour to be part of an experience that promises to be impactful and resourceful.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the 2017 ICITIE invites you to be part of the convention by submitting your research articles or project. The presentations will afford you to choose from a concurrent sessions of posters, panels or roundtables for the conference. Options will also be provided for virtual presentations for international and local participants. The workshop will also have an interlude of special interest group (SIG) during the free lunch sessions throughout the convention period.
The workshop will be made up of four tracks – Mobile Learning; Instructional Video Production; Learning Management System and Microsoft Educator for the 21st Century Teacher. Participants will have the opportunity to register (www.aitie.org.ng) for one of the four workshop tracks.
Theme of the Convention
Submission of articles from interested participants could address one or more of the nine key themes within the main topic of the convention – so that all may integrate technology for teaching and learning:
Strategies for integrating technology for teaching and learning
Ethical practice for instructional technology integration for teaching
Policy formulation for integrating mobile and related technologies for learning
Innovative approaches for digitizing instructional content delivery
Evaluation processes for instructional video design and development
Integration of learning management system in higher institution of learning
Awareness on integration of inclusive, adaptive and assistive technologies
Synergetic collaboration of Educational Technology and Computer Science Education for quality instructional content delivery
Glocalizing instructions through innovative technology integration
Presentation Options
The ICITIE 2017 will provide platforms for options with regard to presentation choice. The concurrent presentation sessions will have the following options: posters, panels and roundtables for the conference.
Concurrent Session: This is a 15 – 20 minutes session which is primarily the traditional presentation format and the focus of this session is to share information on best practices and research results with regard to the main and sub-themes of the convention for the ICITIE 2017
Poster Session: posters are designed to showcase a project or research papers with the presenter standing by the poster to entertain questions for clarification sake. A small table will be provided to support a display board, laptop or handouts. Feedback and insight of colleagues will be encouraged on the innovative development. Posters are schedule simultaneously with roundtable in multiple large rooms.   Poster size should be 48” x 36” horizontal/landscape layout. Tripod stands may be provided for firm display of the poster and it will take 20 – 30 minutes for each poster session. Posters could be prepared on large format or PowerPoint presentations.
Roundtable Session: roundtable is a participatory format of presentation organized for small group discussion of specialized topics with reference to the main and sub-themes of the ICITIE 2017 convention. The presenter is expected to lead the discussion and will encourage high level interactivity with minimal audiovisual use.
Panel Session: panel session will provide an opportunity for public discussion amongst a selected group of panelist. The choice of good topic to be discussed will be determined by the convention organizers thereby providing opportunity for panelists to emanate differing opinion of arguments in a live situation. Panel will comprise of three to five educational media specialists with discussants offering critical comment on the submissions made by the panelist. The participating audience will form the pool of discussants.
Virtual Presentation: for the sake of interested participant that will not be able to make a trip or travel to the venue of the ICITIE 2017 for whatever reason(s) and wishes to present a paper or research articles, provision will be made for virtual presentations to bridge any restriction that could hinder the publication of quality research work. A research paper submitted without the participant attending the convention in person, but presented via virtual conferencing are adequately refereed and subsequently published in the convention proceedings if eventually accepted.
Special Interest Group (SIG) Meetings: it is a discussion that will be had over the launch table. The topic of discussion might not be related to the convention themes but will be of interest to individuals found on the same launch table. It is a moment of sharing important information that will enrich the intellectuality of discussants. The topics could range from health, sport, education, technology, economy, politics etc. the choice of topic for discussion is the sole decision of the SIG’s members.
Submission Types
The ICITIE 2017 welcomes the following types of submission:

Full Papers: a full paper is a standard academic research paper that reports the result of a research work which pages might not be more 12-15 with inclusion of the reference page.

Short Papers:
a short paper is an academic paper which depict a position, case study or policy papers to drive home points necessary for conceptual acceptance of a national issue.

Industry Foresight:  corporate organization and individual instructional developers showcase their effort in the advancement of technologies (software or hardware) thereby soliciting for inputs or comments from instructional technologist to improve the ongoing design or development. Interested participants in this regard is required to submit two pages of descriptive information or five pages of papers on the ongoing design or development.

Guidelines for Submissions

The ICITIE 2017 convention website (www.aitie.org.ng) will furnish the updated details of procedure for submissions of paper format. Important dates with regard to conference papers and registration procedures will also be displayed on the AITIE website (www.aitie.org.ng).

Publication
All accepted submissions will be packaged into a conference proceedings booklet that will form part of the conference kit for ICITIE 2017. Where an author indicates interest for paper submission(s) to be subjected to peer-review mechanism by paying the additional required fee (vetting & journal publication), then, the paper would be published in the maiden special edition of the International Journal of Innovative Technology Integration in Education (IJITIE). The author(s) will have the sole right to decide on whether the paper should be published in the conference proceedings and the journal or the former alone. The decision to publish conference proceedings papers in the journal would require an extension and revision for modifications through the peer-review exercise.

Workshops
The ICITIE 2017 is a forum for sharing ideas and information to promote the acquisition and application of skills in the direction of integrating technology for teaching and learning processes. The researchers and respective specialist would be exposed to high level skill acquisition and applications through four major tracks: mobile learning for instructional delivery; instructional video design and production; learning management system tools for classroom instruction; and Microsoft educator for the 21st century teachers. The tracks would involve both theory and practical sessions which would be delivered by seasoned academics and experts in the respective training session. The main purpose of this workshop is to provide a platform for presenting novel ideas in wholly practical display in order to focus more on the skills so that all may integrate technology for teaching and learning.
Track 1: Mobile Learning for Instructional Delivery
Track 2: Instructional Video Design and Production
Track 3: Learning Management System Tools for Classroom Instruction
This track would expose participants to the conceptual understanding of a learning management system and its integration strategies for teaching purpose. You will be trained on how to strategically design contents for LMS with embedded ICT tools for effectiveness. Also, explanations would be provided on how you can practically use the LMS for assessment, management and create repositories of relevant materials for students’ access.  Specific references would be made to Google Classroom, Blackboard and Schoology to enhance practical display of integrating LMS into classroom instructional delivery. This track would expose participants to the following: navigating in the LMS; building my subject; control panel; announcements; make a subject available; staff and student management; content collection; etc.

Track 4: Microsoft Educator for the 21st Century Teacher

Designed for teacher trainers responsible for delivering professional development training and for classroom educators who want to learn more about Microsoft's best tools and resources for classroom learning. The workshop is a train the trainer model, providing hands-on training on windows devices across a range of Microsoft tools including Office 365, OneNote, Sway, OneDrive, Skype in the classroom, OfficeMix, and a number of free tools Microsoft makes available to teachers and students. Also learn how to work collaboratively with others all through the cloud.  Bring your own devices (BYOD)
